'Moon Palace' - Paik Hae Young Gallery, Seoul
24.04 - 21.05 2008

This exhibition, my first in Korea, was the result of prior research combined with works produced during a six-week residency at Paik Hae Young Gallery. I used a number of different sources. I produced a series of my characteristic ‘Book-Paintings’ using three books illustrating Korean art. The result are three series of works : the first comprises six paintings derived from nineteenth century erotic paintings by Kim Hong-Do, Shin Yoon-Bok and Choi U-Suk; the second series comprises five paintings derived from scenes of folk-life by Kisan; the third series is three paintings based on photographs of Korean Moon Jars.

Unless otherwise stated, all works are acrylic on canvas.
